Template overview Template Overview

Complaint Letter to Landlord is a complaint to a Landlord about the leased premises. The sender of the letter is the tenant who is renting the premises from the landlord. The main purpose of this letter is to inform the landlord of the issue (or to remind the landlord of the problem, if he has already been informed), and request to solve the matter.

There are cases when complaints to landlords can be made by a telephone. However, if any issues occur, it is best to discuss them in writing so that official records could be created. Therefore, if the landlord is not going to rectify the issue, the tenant will have proof that the complaint has been filed.

This letter may not be valid for a basic maintenance request. However, for routine upkeep requests, you can use a Tenant Maintenance Request.

The structure of this letter is particularly simple; however, there are possible additional features to ensure that the details of the issue presented to the owner clearly. Also, if the landlord has already been informed about the issue, you can mention it as well.

How to use this template How to use this template

This document can be used in a variety of situations where a tenant wants to make a complaint to the landlord. The letter you submit must include identifying information about the tenant, such as his name, address, and telephone number. The landlord's information and his leased premises data are also required.

Finally, a brief explanation of the issue should be completed in the essential part of the letter - the issue description.

Once completed, the document should be printed and signed in two copies. The tenant should keep one copy, and the other should be sent to the landlord, most ideally through the certified mail.
